History

Zhutian Station Park (竹田驛園) centres on a wooden station built in 1940 in a Western-inspired style. Local residents and cultural advocates helped save it from planned demolition. The preserved complex includes a wooden oil store, waiting room, granary, rice-milling facilities, bathhouse and old well.

What to see

A former railway warehouse houses the Li Xiuyun Photography Memorial Hall (李秀雲攝影紀念館), with old photographs and objects related to the photographer. Another warehouse became Zhutian Cultural Hall (竹田文化館), displaying traditional agricultural tools and art. Dexing Rice Mill (德興碾米廠), built in 1942, retains wooden milling conduits, a particular detail of the township's former rice industry.
