Dunes shaped into architecture
Zhuangwei Sand Dunes Ecological Park (壯圍沙丘生態園區) covers about 4.48 hectares and opened in 2018. Architect Huang Sheng-yuan (黃聲遠) designed it around the idea of clearing a valley to reveal dunes. Sand-hollow building spaces draw on local landforms, with rural fields on one side and ponds reflecting the weather and screw-pine treetops on the other.
Cycling and agricultural scenery
A coastal cycle route runs for 15 kilometres from Zhu’an Estuary (竹安河口) to Donggang Seaside Park (東港濱海公園). The township combines farming and fishing, with changing seasonal fields and cantaloupes among its principal products. Gongguan (公館) offers views of sunrise around Guishan Island (龜山島), while birdwatching is associated with the Lanyang River shore.
