Monasteries and a mountain lake

Tsurphu Monastery (楚布寺) and Nêlang Monastery (乃朗寺) stand in the valley, belonging to the Karma Kagyu (噶玛噶举派) Buddhist tradition. Deeper inside lies Jiecuokangba Lake (杰措康巴神湖), surrounded by grass and reflecting snowy peaks. Small stands of old cypress remain in the valley. Nêlang Valley (乃朗谷) contains shrubland, grassland and river habitats; the district government records snow leopards among the wild animals found there.

Saddlery, opera and painted images

The district’s cultural crafts include Jiamu saddlery (加木马具制作技艺) and Rimu Mentang-school thangka painting (日姆勉唐派唐卡). These crafts, together with the Jomolung Tibetan Opera transmission base (觉木隆藏戏传习基地), were named in the district government’s September 2025 announcement of Lhasa’s (拉萨) first intangible-heritage tourism demonstration bases.
