Handmade incense
Nyêmo incense combines dozens of natural medicinal ingredients from the plateau and is still made by hand using traditional methods. Lhasa Municipal Government describes its fragrance as gentle and lingering. Tibetan incense-making entered the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2008; Nyêmo incense gained national geographical-indication product protection in 2014. Tunba (吞巴) is a focal point, with a watermill corridor and the former home of Thonmi Sambhota (吞弥·桑布扎).
Snow mountain, lakes and springs
The county’s landscape includes Qiongmu Gangga snow mountain (琼穆岗嘎), Ruba Lake (如巴湖) and Ricuo Lake (日措湖). Xumai (续迈), Karu (卡如) and Majiang (麻江) are its three named hot-spring areas. Old walnut trees are another feature of the local countryside.
