Glacier and forested gorge
Yiga Glacier (依嘎冰川) descends from mountains at around 5,000 metres. Pale-blue ice faces, ice caves, icefalls and towers of ice mark its structure. Dujun Grand Canyon (独俊大峡谷), in Azha Town (阿扎镇), has steep, vegetated mountain sides and a rushing river. Autumn brings red and yellow foliage to the surrounding forest.
Niyu’s trees and villages
In Niyu Township (尼屋乡), peach blossoms line the riverbanks, with village houses among them. Old pines and cypresses are another feature. Festival gatherings in the county include guozhuang dancing (锅庄), with men and women wearing festive dress.
