Courtyard and gilded Buddha
A white stupa marks the approach, with three-storey stone-and-timber monks’ quarters to its west and stone lions by their entrance. The inner courtyard leads through a chanting hall to the main sanctuary. A carved copper bell hangs above the sanctuary entrance. Inside is a thirteen-metre copper Jampa Buddha (强巴佛), gilded over its entire surface; thangkas hang around the hall.
The circumambulation route
A circumambulation path extending more than a kilometre centres on the monastery. Devotees follow it clockwise towards the mountain. At its entrance grows a walnut tree treated as sacred, its trunk painted with red, yellow and white stripes. A spring flows at the tree’s roots.
