Forest, water and local crafts
Zhari’s landscape includes waterfalls, streams, forest and mountain valleys. Monkeys and red pandas inhabit the area. Local products include bamboo weaving, rattan bracelets and Tibetan incense. These crafts accompany scenery that ranges from snow peaks and grassland to lakes and deep green woodland.
Barley and Lhoba objects
Jiayu grows black barley, whose dark grain is concealed within an ordinary-looking husk. In Douyu, beside the lower Se River (色曲河), the Lhoba exhibition hall displays bows, knives, bamboo wine containers, hats and baskets. Clothing and adornments include men’s rattan hats and ornaments of beads, shells and animal teeth, and women’s wraparound skirts, rattan earrings, necklaces and small copper bells.
