Everyday materials and an official seal
Objects associated with Loulan include leather boots, brocade, woven grass baskets and pottery, while wooden documents come from Miran. Xinhua photographed a bronze official seal at the museum in 2023; excavated at Loulan in 2015, the object reflects the official administration of the Wei and Jin periods.
Reconstructing the past
The museum’s exterior draws on ancient Loulan architecture. A 2017 refurbishment added archaeological video material and reconstructed scenes, alongside wooden, stone and jade objects. The exhibition halls cover prehistory, Loulan’s history and culture, the Silk Road, historical memory and the long effort to protect and interpret the remains.
