Hot water beside the Jinsha

The hot-spring complex draws water from more than two thousand metres beneath the Jinsha River (金沙江). Cherry blossoms colour the grounds in spring. Its pools include flower-petal, milk and herbal bathing areas, while summer water attractions include the Big Trumpet (大喇叭) and Six-Colour Racing Slide (六彩竞技滑道). A viewing restaurant overlooks the river.

Lakes and wooded valleys

Tongluoba Forest Park contains five streams, eighteen small basins, 108 peaks, seven small lakes and dozens of waterfalls. Streams, cascades, pools and springs lie beneath the woodland canopy; rocks, caves, cliffs and pavilions appear among the trees. Xiannü Lake (仙女湖), or Fairy Lake, is one of its named waters, seen among forest and drifting mist.

Western Grand Canyon Hot Spring西部大峡谷温泉

Xibu Daxiagu Hot Spring is a national AAAA-grade hot-spring resort on the Jinsha River in Shuifu, Zhaotong, drawing on a spring found 2,380 metres beneath the surrounding canyon, its water at 82.5 degrees Celsius. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism's own route materials describe it as Asia's largest open-air hot spring, within a county it credits with the description 'First Port of the Ten-Thousand-Li Yangtze, Northern Gateway of Colourful Yunnan'.
