Xifeng Temple

Xifeng Temple (西峰寺), also called Niangniang Temple Mountain (娘娘庙山), stands in Jiangxingzhuang Village (蒋兴庄村). Its rectangular courtyard faces south. The main building combines a brick-vaulted chamber with a front veranda, three door openings and lattice windows. Surviving objects include four Qing stone steles, an iron bell and paired stone flagpoles. A nine-storey brick pagoda, 31.6 metres high, was added on the hilltop in 2004.

Valleys and fortified sites

The Dali River (大理河) and Huaining River (淮宁河) valleys contain old fortified settlements and beacon towers. Nanfengzhai (南丰寨) hosted the first northern Shaanxi Communist Party congress in April 1928. Local craft traditions include paper cutting, stone carving and decorative dough flowers.
