A temple above the county seat
Baiyu Temple (白玉寺) stands on a hillside one kilometre north of the county seat. Its Buddhist complex holds religious assemblies at which teachings are given to monks and lay communities. Jianshe Town (建设镇), the county seat itself, lies at an elevation of 3,050 metres.
Lakes, pasture and forest
At Lalongcuo Wetland (拉龙措古冰漂湿地), thawing ice meets blue-green water around the transition from spring to summer. Ritongba Grassland (日通坝草原) spreads across meadow country at about 4,000 metres, with grazing cattle and sheep. Baba Lake (巴巴海), also called Lansong Lake (蓝松湖), lies deep in Baba Valley (巴巴沟), where tall trees and rocky peaks frame the water.
