A modern setting for an old epic
Gesar King City (格萨尔王城) is a cultural tourism complex whose construction began in 2017. Its palace, lanes and clusters of Tibetan-style buildings retell episodes from the Epic of King Gesar (格萨尔王传). Built in the southeastern part of the county town, it combines Gesar-themed displays with wetland and grassland areas. The palace called Senzhu Dazi (森珠达孜王宫) is its landmark building.
Barley and dairy products
Local highland barley is made into flour, cakes and barley liquor. Butter and milk curds are also part of Ganzi’s food traditions, alongside yak and Tibetan pig products. The wider county includes high plains, hills, mountain country and glacial lakes, with its terrain descending from northwest to southeast.
