Guild halls and temples

In Shuanggui (双桂), Tianba Guild Hall (田坝会馆) was founded in 1791. Its surviving buildings include a gateway, theatre, study and halls. The gateway bears characters for good fortune and longevity, while the theatre has carved wooden figures from drama. Zitong Temple (梓潼庙) in Datong (大通) dates to 1784 and faces east; its three halls are dedicated to Wenchang (文昌), Guanyin (观音) and the Buddha.

Hot liangfen

Datong hot liangfen (大通热凉粉) begins with soaked peas, which are ground, strained and allowed to settle before the starch is cooked with water. Accompaniments include cured pork, peanuts, soybeans, celery, garlic and preserved vegetables, with Sichuan pepper and chilli among the seasonings.
