Mountain songs and a painter’s home
The township’s Hakka mountain-song competition began in 1965. Xiao Rusong Art Park (蕭如松藝術園區) preserves the watercolour painter’s former home, with paintings, tools and documents interpreting his artistic and teaching work. The central market nearby offers traditional Hakka foods.
River spaces and seasonal flowers
The Zhongxing waterway (中興河道) runs through town, with landscaped spaces including Shuqilin Square (樹杞林廣場), viewing platforms and a children’s sand area. Near Zhudong station (竹東車站) on the Neiwan (內灣) railway, the Touqian riverside ecological park has cherry trees and ponds replanted with lotus and other aquatic plants. Sports grounds and cycle paths extend the riverside recreation area.
