Two railway tunnels

Qiding Tunnels (崎頂隧道) were built in 1928 when the railway between Xiangshan (香山) and Zhunan was realigned. The two tunnels became unsuitable for railway electrification, prompting a westward shift of the tracks. They closed in 1978 when electric services began on the route.

Brickwork and coastal woodland

The broad tunnel portals were built for double tracks, with cement-brick entrances and side walls beneath red-brick arched ceilings. The surrounding area has been arranged as Qiding Tunnel Cultural Park (崎頂隧道文化公園). Along Zhunan’s coast, purple crow butterflies appear in the windbreak forests during April and May; mangroves are another feature of the local coastal ecology.
