A lighthouse and reef coast
Green Island Lighthouse (綠島燈塔), built in 1939, has a circular reinforced-concrete tower on the headland north of the airport runway. The coast around Zhongliao Village (中寮村) has a broad intertidal zone with channels and pools inhabited by small marine creatures. Sand replaces the reef bottom about 20 metres out to sea.
Warm water beside the Pacific
Zhaori Hot Spring (朝日溫泉) lies among the intertidal reefs at Fanchuanbi (帆船鼻), facing the Pacific. Its clear water is slightly acidic and saline, without a strong sulphurous smell. Three circular outdoor pools occupy the seaward side of the bathing area. The surrounding shore has erosion channels running towards the sea and reef slabs scattered over a sandy bottom.
