Sand, water and local food
The Golden Coast combines a wave-washed sandy shore with nearby Gobi dunes and wetland around the lake. Bird Island (鸟岛) is associated with birdwatching, while swimming, boating and lake cruises are among the activities developed in the scenic area. Cold-water fish prepared on a barbecue is part of its lakeside food offering.
A neighbouring education centre
Beside the Golden Coast is the Ulungur Lake National Wetland Park Biodiversity Education Centre (乌伦古湖国家湿地公园生物多样性科普宣传教育基地). It occupies about 3,850 square metres and has eight exhibition halls. Its educational displays introduce the wetland park and encourage visitors to understand and protect the wetland.
