Temples and old courtyards
Nuodeng’s historic buildings include Yuhuang Pavilion (玉皇阁), the Confucian Temple (文庙), the Martial Temple (武庙), Dragon King Temple (龙王庙) and Lingxing Gate (棂星门). Old trees stand among the village’s cultural remains, while paintings, inscribed plaques, furniture and other objects remain in local hands. Traditional Bai houses have also been adapted as guesthouses.
A great bend and varied bridges
The Bi River makes an S-shaped bend north of the county town, creating the landscape known as the Natural Taiji Diagram (天然太极图). Along the river and its tributaries, surviving bridges illustrate several building traditions, including vine suspension and steel-truss structures. Named examples include Tongjing Bridge (通京桥), founded during the Qing Qianlong reign, and Shuicheng Vine Bridge (水城藤桥).
