A song and a lantern tradition

Mizhi is associated with the creation of the folk song Xiaohé Tangshui (小河淌水) and with Midu’s folk-song and lantern-performance traditions. The town’s visitor sites include Wensheng Street (文盛街), Mizhi Dasi Temple (密祉大寺) and the former home of Yin Yigong (尹宜公故居). Its Lantern Festival gathering and Taijishan Temple Fair (太极山庙会) are local cultural events.

Streams, fruit and local foods

Taiji Mountain (太极山) forms part of the town’s natural scenery. Guihuaqing (桂花箐) has a stream beside an old osmanthus tree with a trunk requiring four people to encircle. The town’s agricultural products include Mizhi tofu (密祉豆腐), red snow pears (红雪梨), edible wild mushrooms, morels and honey. Fruit-growing areas also offer fruit picking.
