An eastern gateway

The Panxi Railway (盘西铁路), Nanning–Kunming Railway (南昆铁路), Shanghai–Kunming high-speed railway (沪昆高铁) and Qujing–Shengjing Expressway (曲胜高速) cross the county. The Dahe Paleolithic Site (大河旧石器时代遗址) records early human activity here. Fuyuan konjac (富源魔芋) and Dahe black pigs (大河乌猪) are named local agricultural products.

Gugan ginger duck

Gugan Jiangzi Duck (古敢姜子鸭) uses free-ranging ducks raised for more than a year and locally grown small yellow ginger. Preparation combines marinating, frying and slow braising, leaving firm duck meat with ginger fragrance. The cooking technique entered Qujing’s municipal intangible cultural heritage list in 2013. It appears at festive meals and at the long-street feast during the township’s Sanyuesan celebrations (三月三).
