Springs and warm valleys

The county is 53 kilometres from central Yuxi and 148 kilometres from Kunming (昆明). Cold and warm springs are scattered through its territory. The warmer areas around Panxi (盘溪) and Huaxi (华溪) support a citrus industry known for early-ripening fruit, while pottery production has a long local history.

Wanyao’s kiln tradition

Wanyao Village (碗窑村) brings together a traditional settlement and pottery workshops. Its kiln street opened in September 2017, following work on a pottery display centre, trading centre, Ciyun Temple (慈云寺) and a dragon kiln. A 2019 official account records kiln firing, kiln-related folk performances and pottery exhibitions there, showing how craft production and village heritage became linked in the county’s tourism.
