Companion tombs and stone sculpture
The tomb stands south of Ce Village (策村) in Nanwei Town (南位镇). Maoling is surrounded by companion burials, including those of Wei Qing (卫青), Huo Qubing (霍去病) and Huo Guang (霍光). Maoling Museum (茂陵博物馆) stands before Huo Qubing’s tomb and concentrates on Western Han history, with the mausoleum, the general’s burial and a group of large stone carvings as its central subjects.
A Confucian hall and local collections
Xingping Museum (兴平市博物馆) occupies the site of the Confucian temple’s Dacheng Hall (大成殿), founded in 1372. The south-facing hall is five bays wide and three deep. Its museum displays cover ancient local civilisation, bronze mirrors and Ming sculpture; collections also include a jade Laojun figure (老君) and bronze images of Guan Yu (关羽) and the City God (城隍).
