Malan and an old pagoda

The Malan Revolutionary Site (马栏革命旧址), 53 kilometres from the county seat, preserves former offices, military headquarters and other revolutionary remains. Its memorial museum covers the Guanzhong (关中) revolutionary administration from 1926 to 1949. In the county’s built heritage, Tai Pagoda (泰塔) dates to 1059: its brick-and-stone structure rises through seven storeys on an octagonal plan. Arched doorways alternate with rectangular false doors.

Fossils and forest landmarks

Xunyi County Museum (旬邑县博物馆) displays an elephant exhibit nicknamed Binbin (豳豳), a plate-toothed rhinoceros skeleton and dinosaur footprints. In Shimen Mountain, named landmarks include Fusu Temple (扶苏庙), Jiangyuan Lake (姜嫄湖) and Shuangdie Waterfall (双迭飞瀑).
