Carving at the temple
Nearby Qingshui Zushi Temple (清水祖師廟) was founded in 1769. Its stone floors, walls and columns support a timber upper structure. The main hall has five copper doors, elaborate pierced stone columns and a coffered ceiling that rises in successive spiral layers. Murals and carvings draw on stories including Romance of the Three Kingdoms (三國演義) and Journey to the West (西遊記).
Old trades and snacks
The old street’s shops reflect industries including camphor, cloth dyeing, tea and Chinese medicine. Food specialities include golden-horn pastries (金牛角), available in different flavours, and handmade tofu pudding (豆花). The Sanxia Historical Museum (三峽歷史文物館) stands at the street’s entrance.
