Details at Qing’an Temple
The entrance hall has intricate woodcarving, while the main hall contains a caisson ceiling. Murals by Pan Chunyuan (潘春源) and clay sculpture by Jiang Qinglu (江清露) preserve the work of early post-war craftspeople. Window carvings show six chihu creatures (螭虎) surrounding an incense burner, with bats around them. Other panels depict grapes and mice, motifs traditionally associated with many descendants.
Sugar-factory residences
Shantang Cultural Park (善糖文化園區) occupies restored red-brick dormitories belonging to Shanhua Sugar Factory (善化糖廠). Cafés, a bakery and exhibition spaces give these residences new uses. A Taiwan Sugar steam locomotive built in 1948 is displayed in the grounds, and the factory chimney remains visible behind the park.
