Temple processions and decoration

The Xigang Gua Xiang procession (西港刈香) takes place every three years, carrying the Qiansui deities (千歲爺) through surrounding communities. A long centipede formation (蜈蚣陣) is a distinctive element. Carp appear in the temple’s roof decoration, ritual objects and flags, reflecting a local geomantic legend. Door-god paintings by Chen Shouyi (陳壽彞) contrast the white-faced Qin Shubao (秦叔寶) with the dark-faced Yuchi Gong (尉遲恭).

Rush weaving at Xielin

The Rush Workshop (藺草工坊) in Xielin (檨林) developed from the Maoxing mat factory (茂興). Its fragrant, hollow-stemmed rushes are woven into hats, bags and mats. Visitors can encounter smaller accessories and learn weaving through practical activities, continuing a local craft tradition.
