Inside the fossil park
The park brings together the former Cailiao Fossil Museum (菜寮化石館), a natural-history education hall and Guangrong Elementary School (光榮國小). Its collections include mammoths, stegodonts, ancient deer, crocodiles and shellfish. Interactive displays recreate fossil excavation and riverbed observation. The Story Hall (故事館) introduces the Xinhua Hills (新化丘陵), Siraya (西拉雅族) objects and collector Chen Chunmu (陳春木), while a fossil preparation room shows restoration work.
Caoshan Moon World
Caoshan Moon World (草山月世界) has bare, serrated ridges and steep slopes cut by rivers through soft ground. Thorny bamboo grows among the eroded landforms. Views from the 308-metre high point take in layered hills and changing cloud and mist formations.
