Forest on an alluvial fan
Jinhuyang Scenic Area (金湖杨景区) lies thirty-six kilometres from the county seat, on the upper edge of the Yarkand River alluvial fan. Poplars grow beside water within a landscape of lakes, fields and grass. Elsewhere, the Yarkand River Wetland Park (叶尔羌河湿地公园) occupies the Tizinafu riverbank fifteen kilometres east of the county seat. Its riverine reed marshes support birds including black and white storks.
Objects from the river region
The Yarkand River Folk Culture Museum (叶尔羌河民俗文化博物馆), completed in October 2016, presents geography, culture and history across five exhibition areas. Its collections include pottery, metalware, wooden objects, leather and textiles, including a Tang-dynasty red pottery jar with a swastika motif.
