Canal streets
The Guan River (官河) connected the Eastern Zhejiang Canal (浙东运河) with the Qiantang River. Cargo passing through Xixing supported transport firms known as guotanghang (过塘行). The Xixing Guotanghang Wharf Exhibition Hall (西兴过塘行码头陈列馆) displays strings of red and yellow bamboo-framed paper lanterns.
Waterworks and family teachings
Yongxing Sluice (永兴闸), also called Longkou Sluice (龙口闸), stands north of Tieling Pass (铁岭关) at the connection between river and canal. A family-precepts hall preserves teachings from the Lai (来), Tang (汤) and Zhang (章) families; those of the Lai family stress reading books and cultivating fields.
